Pink Moon April 2017

Pink Moon 042017
I still watch in wonder as the moon rises above the horizon and over the desert mountaintop in southern California. So here I offer my celebration of the first full moon of Spring 2017.
space.com cites the Farmer’s Almanac in saying April’s Full Moon is known as the Pink Moon “because it marked the appearance of a flower called the moss pink, or phlox,” and is most likely a Native American Tradition. “It is also called the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon and the Fish Moon.” I like Pink Moon, myself, but I also enjoy learning about the names and the lore behind them.
